IP protection level test equipment requirements (numerical significance)

IP protection level:

Description of IP protection class (according to EN60529/IEC60529/GB4208)

Protection level IP54, IP for the marking letter, number 5 for the first marking number, 4 for the second marking number the first marking number represents the contact protection and foreign protection level

The second number indicates the waterproof protection level

Waterproof test

1, scope,

The waterproofing test includes a second characteristic number of 1 to 8, i.e., the protection rating code of IPX1 to IPX8.

2. Waterproof test content of various grades

(1) IPX1

Method name: vertical dripping test

Test equipment: drip test device and test method are shown in 2.11

Sample placement: the sample shall be placed on the rotating sample table at the normal working position at 1r/min, and the distance from the top of the sample to the drip outlet shall not be greater than 200mm

Test conditions: drop water was 1 0.5mm /min;

Test duration: 10 min;

(2) IPX2

Method name: water drop test at tilt of 15°

Test equipment: drip test device and test method are shown in 2.11

Sample placement: make one surface of the sample at a 15° Angle to the perpendicular line, and the distance from the top of the sample to the drain shall not be greater than 200mm. After each face test, change the other face four times.

Test conditions: 3 0.5 mm/min drip water;

Test duration: 4×2.5 min (10 min in total);

(3) the IPX3

Method name: water spraying test

Test methods:

A. Water spraying test with pendulum tube

Test equipment: test device for water splashing with pendulum tube (see figure of device and test method in book 2.14)

Sample placement: select the appropriate radius of the swing tube so that the height of the sample table is in the position of the swing tube diameter. Place the sample on the sample table so that the distance from its top to the sample nozzle is no more than 200mm and the sample table does not rotate.

Test conditions: water flow is calculated according to the number of spray holes in the pendulum tube, and each hole is 0.07 L/min. When spraying water, the water jet holes in each 60° arc on both sides of the middle point of the pendulum pipe sprayed the sample. The test sample is placed in the center of the semicircle of the pendulum tube. The pendulum tube swings 60° on each side of the vertical line, making a total of 120°. Each oscillation (2×120°) is about 4s.

Test time: continuous watering for 10 min.

B. Sprinkler test

Test equipment: handheld water splashing test device, device figure and test method see book 2.14

Sample placement: make the parallel distance from the top of the test to the nozzle of the hand-held nozzle between 300mm and 500mm

Test conditions: baffle with balancing weight shall be installed during the test, and the water flow shall be 10 L/min

Test time: 1 min per square meter (excluding installation area), at least 5 min, calculated according to the surface area of tested sample shell.

(4) IPX4

Method name: splash test;

Test methods:

A. Pendulum splashing test

Test equipment and sample placement: the same as IPX3 a of clause (3) above;

Test conditions: same as section (3) IPX3 a above, except as follows:

The water spraying area is the sample sprayed by the water spraying hole in each 90° arc on both sides of the middle point of the pendulum tube. The test sample is placed in the center of the semicircle of the pendulum tube. The pendulum tube swings 180° along the vertical sides, about 360° in total. Each oscillation (2×360°) is about 12s.

Test time: same as IPX3 a of clause (3) above (i.e. 10 min).

B. Sprinkler test

Test equipment and sample placement: the baffle with balancing weight installed on the equipment shall be removed, and the rest shall be the same as IPX3 b in article (3) above;

Test conditions: same as section (3) IPX3 b above, except as follows:

Test time: same as IPX3 b in clause (3) above, i.e. 1min per square meter (excluding installation area), min minimum, calculated according to surface area of tested sample shell.

(5) IPX5

Method name: water spray test

Test equipment: the inner diameter of the nozzle is 6.3mm; Device figure and test method are shown in book 2.14

Test conditions: the distance between the test sample and the water jet is 2.5~3m, and the water flow is 12.5 L/min (750 L/h).

Test time: 1min per square meter (excluding installation area), at least 3 min, calculated according to surface area of tested sample shell.

(6) IPX6

Method name: intense water spraying test;

Test equipment: the inner diameter of the nozzle is 12.5mm; Device figure and test method are shown in chapter 2.14 of this book.

Test conditions: the distance between the test sample and the water nozzle is 2.5 ~ 3m, and the water flow is 100 L/min (6000 L/h).

Test time: 1min per square meter (excluding installation area), at least 3 min, calculated according to surface area of tested sample shell.

(7) IPX7

Method name: short-term immersion test;

Test equipment and test conditions: immersion tank. The size of the sample shall be such that the bottom of the sample shall be at least 1m from the surface of the water after the sample is placed in the immersion tank. The distance from the top of the sample to the water surface shall be at least 0.15m.

Test time: 30 min.

(8) IPX8

Method name: continuous diving test;

Test equipment, test conditions and test time: agreed by supply and demand (buyer and seller). Severity shall be higher than IPX7.
